Or create your own Wild Ride!

Welcome to Wild Ride!

Wild Ride is Bonorong’s new fundraising campaign where we encourage supporters to do a ‘Wild Ride’ to raise money for wildlife in our care. The funds raised will help run Bonorong’s rescue, critical care hospital, and rehabilitation animal care services.

Ride a bicycle, a scooter, a skateboard, or roller skate, hop on a pogo stick, even wear a costume while you’re doing your Wild Ride! You create your very own Wild Ride with a team or as an individual, with your work mates, friends, or family. Anyone can take part – groups, businesses, and organisations.

How Can I Get Involved?

Want to become a Wild Rider? You can register as an individual, a team, a business or as an organisation. Simply register using the button below, then start planning for your Wild Ride and raising money. You can provide updates and share your progress with your followers as you go!

And if you can’t do your own Wild Ride, there are plenty of other ways to help support animals – you can sponsor a Wild Rider, donate directly or become a Corporate Partner.

Updates from Bonorong...

Happy Mother’s Day! 💚

To all the amazing mums and mother figures in our community, we hope your day is filled with love, appreciation, and a little bit of spoiling - you deserve it!🫂

A special shout-out to the incredible volunteers who care for orphaned joeys after they’ve lost their mums - often due to human-related causes. These selfless foster mums give these little ones a second shot at life, and we’re so grateful for the vital role you play. Without you, they don't stand a chance. 🫶

On behalf of our wildlife, thank you! 🐾
We'd like to introduce you to our latest arrival - Bessie the orphaned Bare-Nosed Wombat joey!💚

Sadly, Bessie was orphaned in January 2025 after her mum was hit and killed by a car in Tasmania’s central highlands. 🚑

Fortunately, Bessie was found shortly after this incident and was quickly placed in the care of an experienced registered rehabilitator. Bessie was about 1.5 kilograms when she was orphaned, but she has been growing quickly! She is now around 5 kilograms. She will remain at Bonorong until she reaches adulthood, at which point she will be released back to the wild. 🌳

Bessie is a confident young wombat with a big personality. She is currently in the process of moving in to her new home in the Sanctuary, so guests may be able to spot her roaming around in her enclosure from time to time! 🥰

Come visit us and say hello to Bessie or one of our other special orphaned wombats at the Sanctuary and book yourself an animal experience to get a little closer... Link in our bio! 🫶

We've recently had somebody new move in to our Sanctuary! 🏡

Ember is a Brushtail Possum who was sadly orphaned as a very small joey. He was hand-raised and now lives here at Bonorong as an ambassador for his species. 💚

Brushtail possum individuals display significant color variation - they can be grey, black, brown, or golden. While grey is the most prevalent, black and brown possums are also found commonly, with golden (like our Ember) being a rarer variant. The golden colour is the result of a genetic mutation that causes lower levels of melanin in their skin and fur. Some 'golden' possums are a bright orange colour, but most are a pale blonde, like Ember. 💛

Although Brushtail Possums are nocturnal, Ember is a curious and bold young possum and can sometimes be spotted out and about in his enclosure in the afternoons (especially if there is a tasty snack around!). 🥕

He has recently moved into a new enclosure in the Sanctuary’s David Hill Enclosure where you can visit him, so make sure to say hello on your next visit! 👋
