Wild Ride is Bonorongβs new fundraising campaign where we encourage supporters to do a βWild Rideβ to raise money for wildlife in our care. The funds raised will help run Bonorongβs rescue, critical care hospital, and rehabilitation animal care services.
Ride a bicycle, a scooter, a skateboard, or roller skate, hop on a pogo stick, even wear a costume while youβre doing your Wild Ride! You create your very own Wild Ride with a team or as an individual, with your work mates, friends, or family. Anyone can take part β groups, businesses, and organisations.
Want to become a Wild Rider? You can register as an individual, a team, a business or as an organisation. Simply register using theΒ button below, then start planning for your Wild Ride and raising money. You can provide updates and share your progress with your followers as you go!
And if you canβt do your own Wild Ride, there are plenty of other ways to help support animals – you can sponsor a Wild Rider, donate directly or become a Corporate Partner.

We`ve been so excited to watch our first Wild Rider registrations come through for 2025! π
Are you struggling for ideas? Here`s a few to get you started:
π²Ride through national parks or nature trails, covering a set distance over a week.
π΄Organize a horseback ride across scenic countryside or trails, or kayak, canoe, or paddleboard a set distance along a river or lake.
πCycle on a stationary bike for a set time or distance or organize a spin class marathon at a gym.
π΄Create a team and divide a long journey into sections, with each team member completing one leg of the ride on their chosen rides.
πΆEach team decorates their bikes, boats, or other rides to match a wildlife theme and parades through a community route.
Once you`ve picked a Wild Ride, head to www.wildride.org.au and register, then start fundraising! π

π"Ziggy" the Lesser Long-Eared Bat is all ears!!π
This poor little fellow was found entangled in netting in someone`s backyard. When they discovered him, they called Bonorong`s 24/7 Wildlife Rescue Service for help and it was organised for him to visit the Bonorong Wildlife Hospital so that he could be safely freed from the net and assessed for any injuries. π
Our team were able to carefully disentangle him and then perform a full examination to identify any health concerns. Luckily, the netting wasn`t wrapped very tightly, so he escaped without serious injury. β€οΈβπ©Ή
After being stuck for an unknown period of time, Ziggy had become a little dehydrated. Our team helped to remedy this and then Ziggy was sent on his way to a registered and experienced bat rehabilitator who will oversee the rest of his rehabilitation until he is healthy ready to return to the wild! Good luck Ziggy! π

Do you remember "Murphy" the Brushtail Possum who we posted about last month? π
Look how much he has grown! π€©
When Murphy was originally rescued, he was a "pinkie", meaning he was yet to grow any fur. His rehabilitator had no idea what colour he would turn out to be (as Brushtail Possums can vary in shades from dark chocolate brown to light blonde) and she has been surprised to see this gorgeous ashy brown coat emerge! π
He still has a long way to go, but he`s on track for a successful rehabiliation and release. β€οΈβπ©Ή
